Barangay Poblacion has two (2) types of climate, dry season and wet or rainy season. The dry season starts in November and ends in April. The wet or dry season lasts from May to October.There is no available data on the amount of rainfall. However, due to its high elevation, the barangay is usually covered with fog at any time during the onset of the rainy season.
Barangay Poblacion is one of the four (4) original Barrios of Atok also known as “Shontog” which means “On top of a Mountain”. It was the former seat of the “Presidencia” Town Hall but later was transferred to Sayangan, Paoay during the term of Mayor John Haight. One historical place in Poblacion is Bobongan [Mt. Atok] outlook of the Poblacion and used during the World War II as an outpost.
