Long ago, a hunter named Pangkas from Kubal (old name of Cuba), Kapangan, Benguet went hunting at the upper stream of Amburayan river with his dog and passed by Naguey Village. While hunting he saw a deer. His dog then ran after it. The deer entered a cave and finally was trapped there. When he saw the cave, he appreciated its beauty so from that time on he valued the cave.

Pangkas went home and took a rest at Naguey then told the villagers about the cave he discovered.

When he was finally home, he again related to his relatives as well as the villagers of the nature and location of the cave he discovered and told them that if he will die they will bring his body to the cave.

Time passed and Pangkas died. At the day of his burial they carried him towards the cave. As they passed by Naguey, they ask the villagers of the cave’s location. One of the villagers answered, ahchiman da, paspasdong pay da so off they went and finally laid him to rest.

From that time on, the people began calling the place “Pasdong”. At present these burial cave still exist and located at Sitio Balantian of Barangay Pasdong, Atok, Benguet.

Pasdong is located along the upper stream of Amburayan River and 57 kilometers away from Baguio City.

The first settlers in the Barangay are the Pikyot and Pengel families who came from sitio Dituan and Amlimay, Buguias respectively. They were followed by other settlers such as the Naay and Agoyo families also from Dituan and Amlimay and at a subsequent time, other families joined them and built their homes in the settlement. Later, the people established the communities of Betac, Dituan, Dojod, Maraguem, Banos, and Maigong as the population increased. It was only in 1936 that the whole village settlement was named Pasdong but the names of the original settlements were retained.
