Atok, Benguet โ April 8, 2026 | The Municipality of Atok proudly marked another milestone in public health and community development with the inauguration and turnover of the Topdac Sub-Clinic Multipurpose Building/Sub-Barangay Health Station (BHS). The event began with a thanksgiving mass at 9:00 AM led by Rev. Fr. Ignatius (Sangwon) Jun and Rev. Fr. John (Dae Geon) Kim, followed by welcome remarks from Hon. Marlito Amdos, Punong Barangay of Topdac. Residents showcased an intermission number before the symbolic ribbon-cutting and blessing of the new facility.
Municipal Engineer Engr. Ernesto M. Dela Torre opened the history of the project, which was further elaborated by former Vice Mayor Angelito D. Galao, Sr., who exerted effort in following up the funding. The project traces its beginnings to the Vice Mayorโs League Resolution of 2021 and its identification as a priority project in 2023 worth โฑ5 million. The vision was realized through the generosity of Robert Mendoza from the Olyano Clan, a native of the area, who donated a 113-square-meter lot conveniently located near the highway. With support from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), construction began in July 2024 and was completed in 2025.
The new multipurpose building will serve not only Barangay Topdac but also neighboring communities of Naguey, Poblacion, and Pasdong, providing accessible health services and a venue for community programs. The official turnover from DPWH to the Municipal Government of Atok was witnessed by local leaders and residents. Dra. Dominga A. Nazir, Municipal Health Officer, delivered the closing remarks, while Ms. Sabina Macli-ing, former Barangay Health Worker, led the closing prayer.
This project stands as a testament to community collaboration, leadership, and shared visionโbringing essential health services closer to the people of Atok.
